Weather Alert: Expect heat, humidity, scattered rain, and storms in the coming days

On Sunday, readings shot up into the low 90s due to a warm-up brought about by the shift of high pressure towards the Northeast and the change in wind direction to southerly. This allowed for the influx of humid air from the south, which flowed into the Ohio Valley.

Some light showers are expected early Monday, while the majority of the moisture will remain off the western side of Ohio. A few showers and storms have already moved into the western region of the state.

Over the next few days, there will be a rise in the likelihood of rain due to multiple rounds of showers and storms. A frontal boundary that will move northward will help with this increase. The cloud cover will keep temperatures in check, peaking in the mid to upper 80s. Throughout the night, the air mass will remain humid and morning lows will not dip below 70 degrees.

Expect a rise in temperatures to the low 90s during midweek, accompanied by abundant sunshine and only a few scattered storms on Wednesday and Thursday. However, a cold front will drift southeast across the region on Friday, leading to slightly cooler and dry weather over the following weekend.

Forecast

    • Tonight: Clouds thicken, humid, isolated showers. Low 72
    • Monday: Clouds, sticky, scattered showers, storms. High 84
    • Tuesday: Scattered showers, storms. High 86 (72)
    • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, hot, humid. High 90 (70)
    • Thursday: Some sun, pop-up storms p.m. High 89 (71)
    • Friday: Some sun, few showers, storms. High 88 (72)
    • Saturday: Early showers, some sunshine. High 87 (69)
