On July 31st, a Kansas City woman was hit with three criminal cases filed by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

In 2023, Asia Marshall was reportedly linked to multiple instances of retail theft.

In Jackson County Circuit Court, Marshall faces multiple charges of “stealing, $750 or more” in all three cases. These charges are just a few of the many that the 19-year-old is facing, as she has been accused of at least 25 crimes in a span of seven months. During this time, she, along with others, are believed to have stolen a wide variety of store merchandise, including fragrances and apparel, with a total value of almost $67,000.

As per the conditions of her bond, the court has mandated that she refrains from entering or having any form of contact with Nike, Bath and Body Works, or Sephora stores. Additionally, she must maintain a distance of at least 500 feet from the Country Club Plaza.

According to prosecutors, Marshall and a group of unidentified women initiated their thieving spree on May 20th, 2023, by pilfering over $6000 in flat irons and fragrances from two Ulta Beauty Stores located in Northland.

According to court documents, on May 24, 2023, three female suspects reportedly entered a store in Kansas City, grabbed several apparel items, and left through the front doors without paying. The loss was reported to be $1,400.

Four female suspects, including Marshall, were involved in a reported shoplifting incident at a store in Overland Park on May 27, 2023. The stolen items totaled $1,407, consisting of twenty-five different items. Additionally, Marshall was also accused of shoplifting from a Nike store in Kansas City on the same day.

On July 11, 2023, she was supposed to appear before a judge in Johnson County following her arrest in Overland Park. However, court documents reveal that on that same day, she was caught stealing 26 fragrance items worth $2,183.89 from the Sephora store located at the Plaza.

In September and October, there was a noticeable increase in crime at Victoria Secret, Bath and Body Works, and a Sephora located in the Zona Rosa area. The suspect is accused of a single theft in which she allegedly stole items worth $6,600.

According to court documents, on September 20, 2023, Marshall is believed to have put multiple items into bags and left the store without paying. A total of 248 stolen items were reported with a value of $5,314.60.

According to reports, Marshall is said to have taken 212 items valued at $5386.40 on October 14, 2023.

According to investigators, on November 18, 2023, a group of four Black women, including Marshall, entered a store and proceeded to place multiple items into bags. They then left the store without paying for anything, and it was reported that a total of 85 items were stolen with a combined value of $2290.75.

In November, there was an alleged assault in Platte County, followed by a reported robbery at Bath and Body Works in Zona Rosa in December, where an employee was punched. As a result, Marshall was arrested in January, during which she hid under a blanket and claimed to be 13 years old when approached by officers.

In March, she entered a plea of guilt to one count of theft in Clay County, resulting in probation and a suspended sentence. However, Jackson County wasted no time in filing warrants for her arrest the following day and again in June.

Court documents suggest that Marshall is one of the suspects who carried out all the thefts, based on video surveillance.

During the interview with investigators, Marshall admitted to being a suspect in all four thefts, including the ones that amounted to a total of $2,807. Additionally, she confessed to having committed several thefts in Overland Park, which took place in May 2023.

On August 8, a plea hearing has been scheduled for Marshall in Platte County.
