FOLLY BEACH, S.C. —

A South Carolina judge has awarded the victims of a tragic crash that killed a bride on her wedding night over $1 million.

The groom and two others sustained injuries when a car rear-ended their golf cart last year.

The Folly Beach bars included in the lawsuit settled Thursday are The Crab Shack, The Drop In Bar and Deli, and Snapper Jacks.

However, not all defendants have reached a settlement, with litigation still ongoing against Taco Boy and the alleged driver, Jamie Komoroski.

Should South Carolina permit golf carts to operate at night?

El Gallo Bar and Grill was initially named as a defendant but was dropped after providing a receipt proving Komoroski did not purchase alcohol there on the night of the crash.

Enterprise Rental Car also settled since Komoroski was driving a rental car at 40 miles over the speed limit.

Judge Roger Young, who presided over the hearing, acknowledged the challenges of wrongful death cases.

“There is no way to bring back people and it seems like it’s not enough to put a dollar amount on it,” the judge remarked.

The status of the litigation with Taco Boy and Komoroski remains unclear.

A trial date for Komoroski’s criminal charges has not yet been set.
