A 31-year-old man’s body was found in the woods near the Clarendon-Sumter county line

A man from Sumter was discovered deceased in the forest area situated close to the Clarendon-Sumter county border.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office announced that a man named Howard Alexander Hodge, aged 31, was discovered deceased in the forest area opposite Highway 15 South, which is situated between Lowman Road and Timmerman Street.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Sunday afternoon, the body was reported by residents.

According to Sumter Sheriff Anthony Dennis, there is currently no indication that Hodge’s death resulted from any form of violence or foul play.

In a statement, Dennis mentioned that a conclusive determination will be made once an autopsy is conducted.
