A family dispute turned violent when two brothers got into a heated argument inside their home on a quiet block in Richmond Hill. The altercation between the siblings escalated quickly, causing the elder brother, Karamjit Multani, aged 33, to draw his firearm and fire several rounds inside the two-story brick row house on 111th St. near 95th Ave., according to sources.

According to the Daily News on Sunday, Alvin Debieen, 63, a neighbor, initially mistook the sound for firecrackers. However, when police sirens started blaring and a dog began barking, he realized that someone had been shot.

According to the police, Vipanpal Multani, the 27-year-old brother of the gunman, was shot multiple times all over his body and tragically passed away at the scene.

According to the police, Karamjit Multani took off and headed towards 95th Ave. near 109th St., which was only a couple of blocks away. He ended up shooting himself in the head on the sidewalk outside of a house in that area.

Debieen shared her thoughts, stating that the reason for his behavior must have been a severe issue or he simply reached his breaking point.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered the gunman deceased on the serene street, with the firearm resting alongside his body.

According to a neighbor, who preferred to remain anonymous, the deceased’s body was visibly exposed and there was a significant amount of blood present. Several individuals were gathered outside, curious about the commotion. The neighbor expressed their concern for the situation.

The domestic violence incident left residents on the residential block feeling shaken.

Gina, a neighbor who has been residing in the area for many years, expressed her shock as she said, “I have never seen anything like that before. It was quite scary.”

The woman expressed her sorrowful sentiments, stating, “It’s a very heartbreaking story. I pray for the mother. Losing two children in such a tragic manner is simply dreadful.”

In the 102nd Precinct, there have been two homicides so far this year, which is a significant increase from the seven homicides that occurred in all of 2023. The latest incident is particularly concerning due to its deadly nature.
