A man from Arizona who was previously charged with murder in the killing of a 17-year-old boy last year, but was released due to insufficient evidence, has been arrested again. This time, the man is accused of fatally stabbing another individual.

He is currently being held at the Maricopa County Jail on a bond amounting to $1 million, as per reports from the authorities.

Reyes has been charged with his second murder in a little over 14 months.

According to a recent report by local Fox affiliate KSAZ, Ballesteros was arrested on probable cause as per the affidavit. The affidavit stated that during the barbecue, around 8 p.m., Ballesteros went to a nearby apartment and requested a phone to call his mother to pick him up.

According to the affidavit, the victim expressed to the tenant of the apartment that the defendant was behaving suspiciously.

Reyes was not convicted of the murder charges.

The Maricopa County State Attorney’s Office stated that there was no sufficient evidence to support a conviction based on the facts and circumstances at the time.

According to KSAZ, Ballesteros’ mother received a letter from the office stating that the case could not be pursued due to insufficient evidence.

As she was working, the news of Reyes being accused of another murder reached her.

In an emotional interview with the TV station, she shared that she had to leave as she couldn’t bear the pain. Recalling the incident, she expressed her agony over the fact that the perpetrator had caused harm and taken someone else’s life. She further added that the entire incident shouldn’t have happened, and it only brings back the memories of the day when she had to bid farewell to her son, opening up the old wounds.

Keeping tabs on the latest murder case is crucial for her to ensure that justice is served for both her and Trejo’s family.

During an interview with a TV station, Matthew’s mother expressed her desire for people to recognize her face and remember that her son was taken from her. She further stated that the act of taking the life of a man who was sleeping on the ground and a 17-year-old boy from behind was the epitome of cowardice. She expressed concern that the perpetrator might be allowed to commit similar crimes again, causing hurt to more families like hers and others.

An email seeking comment was sent to the Maricopa County State Attorney’s Office, but they have not yet responded.
