The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a K-9 was injured during an attempt to serve a warrant, which resulted in the arrest of an Alabama man.

According to a news release, the events unfolded on July 2nd, when a K-9 unit from the MCSO was dispatched to 5555 Merwood Court to execute a search warrant for a 35-year-old man named Robert Lynn Dees Jr.

Upon arriving at the property which was believed to have multiple armed occupants and suspects, detectives observed a man attempting to flee the premises.

According to the release, Deputies instructed the man, who was later identified as Dees, to halt, but he declined to follow their orders and fled into the nearby woods.

According to the release, K-9 Hunter was deployed and successfully apprehended Dees as he attempted to flee.

According to reports, Dees apparently did not cooperate with the deputies and ended up “kicking K-9 Hunter in the head, resulting in an injury to the dog’s left eye.”

After a brief struggle, Dees was subdued by MCSO deputies. He sustained a minor injury to his leg and was provided with medical attention at the scene. Following this, he was charged with attempting to elude the police, harming a police animal, and resisting arrest. Dees was subsequently taken to Metro Jail.

According to the release, K-9 Hunter has been brought to Ark Animal Clinic to receive treatment for his injuries and will be closely monitored to ensure that his eye has not sustained any damage.
