Tragedy struck a scenic beachfront in Galveston’s West End when a balcony collapsed, resulting in the death of a woman a few hours later. The picturesque view turned into a devastating incident that shook the community.

On Kahala Drive East in Galveston’s West End, a home owned by someone suddenly experienced a balcony collapse last Friday while the owner was standing on it.

Morris was affectionately dubbed the “PR Fairy” by those who knew her. According to her family, she embraced the moniker, as it accurately reflected her ability to work wonders in promoting the community.

It’s natural for some to question how this unfortunate event occurred. Last Friday afternoon, Galveston authorities reported that two individuals, including Morris, sustained injuries as a result of the structure collapse.

According to reports, Morris did not seem to have suffered any life-threatening injuries as per eyewitness accounts shared with the news team.

After emergency crews were alerted, the woman was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

According to the medical examiner, she passed away several hours after experiencing blunt force trauma as a result of a fall. Despite the damage to the residence, there was no inquiry initiated at the time.

The city authorities called for an investigation into Morris’ death on Monday, only after the firefighters were informed of the tragic incident several days later.

According to ABC13, the property will be visited by building inspectors on Tuesday morning as per the directions of the city officials.

It’s been over 15 years since inspectors last visited the property, and records indicate that no work has been done on the house since 2008, when it was damaged by Hurricane Ike.

Inspectors are set to examine the balcony for any signs of damage and to verify if any recent work has been carried out, as per sources informed ABC13.

After Morris’ sudden passing, social media was flooded with an overwhelming display of love and support. The announcement made by her family received almost 1,000 heartfelt comments.

A funeral was held on Monday, as family and friends bid farewell to their loved one.
