Anticipated Snowfall Forecast For Friday Night – Saturday Morning Snow Event In Pennsylvania

Late Friday evening into Saturday morning, Pennsylvania is expected to experience a nuisance snow event. As we enter January, the snowfall transitions from the enchanting, festive flakes to a more bothersome form. This particular snowfall is the remnants of a storm, which will bring significant snowfall amounts of up to half a foot in the Lower Mississippi Valley through Tennessee, potentially overwhelming these regions.

Light, fluffy snow is expected to accumulate on all surfaces as temperatures remain in the 20s. However, there is not much precipitation to work with, particularly east of the Alleghenies. Additionally, below average temperatures are expected to persist for the next 10 days, resulting in a slow melting process for any snowfall.

Winter Weather Timing

This Article Includes

  • 1 Winter Weather Timing
  • 2 FIRST CALL SNOWFALL FORECAST FOR FRI PM – SAT AM

After dinnertime on Friday, Western PA can expect the arrival of light snow. Fortunately, this means that the afternoon rush hour will remain unaffected. Subsequently, the light snow will gradually spread eastward, reaching the Allegheny Mountains and the mountains in North Central PA.

As the snow moves towards the east, the Alleghenies will typically absorb some of the moisture from the system, leading to scattered snow showers east of the mountains. This effect will be particularly noticeable in the southeast quarter of PA, resulting in lower snowfall totals in that region.

Most of us will wake up on Saturday to find the snow already cleared. Instead of using a shovel, it would be more efficient to use an old push broom to clear away the snow.

Here are timing charts for different areas in Pennsylvania. If you are near any of the cities or regions listed below, the corresponding timing block applies to you as well!

FIRST CALL SNOWFALL FORECAST FOR FRI PM – SAT AM

Area A is expected to receive a snowfall accumulation of 2-4 inches. The roads in this area will be covered in snow, which will make travel conditions hazardous.

Expect 1-2 inches of snow accumulation in Area B. The roads will be coated with snow, making travel conditions slippery.

Expect less than 1 inch of snow accumulation in Area C. The roads may become slippery if they get coated in snow.

The models in the coming days won’t be a roller coaster ride. We have high confidence in this forecast.

Make sure you share this forecast with friends and family who might have plans on Saturday morning.
