Police officers in Noblesville, Indiana responded to an armed carjacking incident on Monday afternoon. The carjacking eventually led to a high-speed chase that ended with a crash and the subsequent arrest of two individuals, including a juvenile.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, a report of an armed carjacking in Grant County led to the incident. The suspect led police on a chase along State Road 37 before crashing at the intersection of State Road 32-37 in Noblesville.

The vehicle was abandoned by both suspects who then proceeded to escape on foot.

According to News 8’s sources, a juvenile suspect was apprehended in the parking lot of a Hardee’s restaurant. Meanwhile, the second suspect ran towards the Hamilton East Public Library and sought refuge inside the building. Authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect inside the library.

Officers will be conducting an “evidentiary sweep” of the library, which will result in its closure until 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department’s public information officer, Bryan Melton expressed disappointment when questioned about the involvement of a minor in the crime.

Melton expressed his sympathy towards the unfortunate situation, stating that many of their agency’s employees are parents and it’s hard to witness such events. He hopes for a better outcome for those affected.

It came as a surprise to officials that an incident of this nature occurred in Noblesville during daylight hours.

“It’s never a dull day in law enforcement. This incident happened in the middle of the day and we were fortunate to have swift and efficient responses from our law enforcement team. We couldn’t have picked a better location for such an incident. The Sheriff’s Department, Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield units, Indiana State Police, and even the Elwood Police Department were all present to help us out. It was a collaborative effort and we were grateful for their support,” said Melton.

It remains unclear whether the police found any firearms or weapons. No official statement has been given regarding this matter.

There hasn’t been any information released regarding the connection between the two suspects.

At the moment, there is no further information available.
