On June 13th, the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles declined parole for a man who was found guilty of committing crimes in Lowndes and Baldwin counties.
In September 2014, Addison McDonald received a second-degree theft of property sentence, followed by a 20-year sentence for a robbery conviction in October 2013. Despite his recent parole request, he has been denied. McDonald is 53 years old.
McDonald is currently residing in the Fountain Correctional Center. Unfortunately, his request was denied by the board and they did not set a new date for review.
McDonald has a history of criminal convictions, including a three-year sentence for robbery in Lowndes County and a six-year sentence for possessing a controlled substance in Butler County back in 2003. His current sentence is not his first encounter with the criminal justice system.
In 1994, McDonald was sentenced to two years in prison for second-degree theft of property, marking the beginning of his prison terms. He was then sentenced in April 1995 for escape third and burglary third. Later, in November 1996, McDonald was found guilty of possessing a controlled substance and second-degree theft of property. After serving nearly three years, he was granted parole.
During the hearing, the board gave consideration to 24 parole petitions. Out of these, four were granted while the remaining 20 were denied.
During their session, the board reviewed 10 pardon hearings and made decisions on each case. Out of the 10, six were granted and six were denied. One hearing was postponed to a later date for further review and consideration.
