Texas – A Texas woman faces multiple charges, including unlawful restraint and injury to a child, after allegedly locking a 7-year-old girl in her care inside an animal cage for hours and kicking her while restrained. Authorities reported the child was tied with zip ties and her mouth duct-taped. The Texas Department of Family Services confirmed the child was removed from the home and is now safe.

The 55-year-old caregiver, Rosie, reportedly confined the girl in the cage earlier this month. Police revealed the child endured hours of confinement before the woman inflicted further harm by kicking her. The suspect was arrested this week following the investigation.

Authorities discovered the woman acted intentionally, locking the child against her will. The girl sustained injuries from the physical abuse, including being kicked while immobilized in the cage. During the ordeal, the child was forced to urinate on herself due to a lack of access to a bathroom.

According to investigators, the caregiver subjected the child to this punishment in response to her behavior at school. The woman, who has since posted bond, is required to attend all court proceedings. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 6, 2025.
