REMEMBERING MANDISA

“American Idol” alum and Grammy-winning singer Mandisa passed away earlier this year, and now, we have insight into the circumstances surrounding her death as we’ve obtained her autopsy report.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the document which indicates Mandisa’s official cause of death as “complications of class III obesity,” with the medical examiner noting her weight at 488 pounds at the time of her passing.

According to the report, the singer was discovered by her friends in a state of decomposition at her residence on April 18. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, where she was pronounced deceased.

Despite the state of decomposition, the autopsy was conducted thoroughly, revealing no signs of trauma to her neck. Additionally, a toxicology report found nothing abnormal, leading to the conclusion that the manner of death was natural.

Back in April, the news broke that Mandisa had been discovered deceased in her Nashville home. Her unexpected passing at the age of 47 left her fans and loved ones reeling. According to her father, she had no known health issues prior to her untimely death.

The new report reveals that despite her previous medical records indicating a history of ulcerative colitis, sleeve gastrectomy, and obesity.

In 2017, she spoke to ABC News about her mental health challenges and shared that she had previously considered suicide. Although her mental health struggles were not a contributing factor to her passing.

In 2006, Mandisa gained immense popularity after her participation in season 5 of ‘Idol,’ where she secured the 9th position. Her remarkable success continued in the faith-based music industry. Her 2014 single, “Overcomer,” won the prestigious Best Contemporary Christian Grammy award, which added another feather to her cap.

At the time of her passing, she had reached the age of 47.

I’m sorry to hear about the loss.
