In Kansas City, Missouri, the evidentiary hearing for Fredrick Scott, who is charged with murder, took an unexpected turn during the morning session.

According to witnesses, Scott’s courtroom outburst has caused yet another delay in the seven-year-old case.

In 2017, victims’ remains were discovered on the trails near Indian Creek, and Scott has been charged with six murders, including three of those cases.

The two-day evidentiary hearing scheduled for Monday had a rocky start. During the proceedings, Scott had a sudden outburst, which resulted in the clearing of the courtroom. He directed his anger towards courtroom employees and even hurled curses at his own public defender.

According to Scott’s public defender, Patrick Berrigan, Scott’s competency to stand trial is dependent on his medication for a mental health condition. However, this has been a challenge while he has been in jail.

Allison Boddicker expressed an intense emotion, stating that she has never been as angry as she is now. The events of today have filled her with rage.

Mike Darby, the former owner of Coach’s Bar and Grill on 103rd Street in south Kansas City, was 61 years old when his remains were discovered on the trails near Indian Creek seven years ago. He was survived by his daughters, Boddicker and Jennifer O’Shea.

According to Darby’s loved ones, they have been through the court process approximately 60 times, and they are exhausted from the numerous delays in the case.

Boddicker expressed his disbelief as he left, feeling incredulous at the situation. He believes that the reason for this is because the individual in question has decided not to take their medication, which is ultimately out of their control. As a result, they are powerless to assist in this matter.

O’Shea expressed his concern regarding the oldest open case in Jackson County, stating that it is not a minor offense but a significant one. He further added that the delay in the trial is unreasonable.

According to Darby’s family members, they believe that Scott’s outburst on Monday morning is just a display and not genuine.

According to Berrigan, it is imperative that Judge Charles Frazier assigns Scott to a state mental facility in Fulton, Missouri to closely monitor his medication. Berrigan emphasized that his client’s mental health is currently at risk.

Bill Darby, the brother of Mike, expressed his desire for his brother to be found competent and stand trial for the murders. He emphasized that they do not wish to delay the process any further.

The request to send Scott to Fulton, Missouri had not been approved by the judge as of the close of business on Friday. On Monday, a spokesperson for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office declined to comment on the matter.
