An argument between two cousins resulted in a fatal incident on Thursday afternoon, marking Houston’s first homicide of the year.

The murder occurred at approximately 2 p.m. in a house located on Sterlingshire Street off Tidwell in northeast Houston. Quinton Waldo Lee, a 23-year-old suspect, has been charged with the crime.

When the Houston Police Department responded to the incident, they discovered an unresponsive 28-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, paramedics declared him deceased at the location.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is currently in the process of confirming his identity.

According to HPD Homicide Detectives J. Brown and M. Cass, the victim and Lee, who were roommates and cousins, engaged in an argument that quickly turned violent.

Lee was arrested by officers a few blocks away after they located him. It is worth mentioning that he asserted self-defense during his detention.

Houston Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting on the northeast side of town, which occurred on Thursday.

The incident took place on Sterlingshire Street, specifically in the 8500 block.

Lt. Larry Crowson from the Houston Police Department (HPD) reported that a heated argument between two cousins escalated when one of them resorted to shooting the other. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.

According to Crowson, the suspect has been apprehended and is asserting self-defense. He states that this marks the first homicide in the City of Houston in 2021.
