A crash occurred in north Harris County early Monday morning, leaving a man and a woman injured. Authorities suspect that the crash was deliberate and stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving the couple.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Aldine Bender Road.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the altercation initially arose from a dispute between the couple. Allegedly, the man decided to leave their residence, prompting the woman to pursue him.

According to HCSO, a woman driving a black truck collided with a man driving a white sedan, resulting in the sedan crashing into an awning and veering off the road.

According to the HCSO, both the man and the woman were transported to the hospital. The man sustained injuries but is expected to recover, whereas the woman is currently in critical condition and has undergone surgery.

The investigators discovered bullet holes on the side of the truck; however, it remains uncertain whether these are connected to the domestic disturbance.

According to deputies, the couple has a daughter together who, fortunately, was at home during the crash and remained unharmed.

The HCSO stated that the woman may face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but they are still investigating the incident to determine the full details.

“If you’re unable to get along with your spouse, it’s one thing… Our child is directly affected by this. Our child has to endure regular instances of violence, which I can only assume is because it doesn’t happen overnight,” emphasized Capt. Anthony McConnell. “There is help available. There are counselors and divorce options if necessary. Plenty of people are willing to offer assistance.”

If you find yourself in a domestic violence situation and need assistance, reach out to the Houston Area Women’s Center 24/7 hotline at 713-528-2121 or contact AVDA at 713-224-9911.
