DPS announces capture of Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive in Austin

The Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division has successfully apprehended Thomas Richard Pennington, a fugitive on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted list, in Austin on January 14, 2025.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Pennington, a 39-year-old resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, was wanted for multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault causing bodily injury. Pennington, who is known by various aliases such as Tommy Pennington and Lucky, has a criminal record dating back to 2014, with convictions for offenses such as burglary of habitation and possession of a controlled substance.

The Copperas Cove Police Department initially issued a warrant for Pennington’s arrest on August 30, 2024, for assault causing bodily injury. Subsequently, two additional warrants were issued in Coryell County on October 25, 2024, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, as stated in the press release.
