Fort Wayne, Ind. — Early Monday morning, Fort Wayne firefighters responded to a house fire in the 2100 block of Wells Street.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department reported that the call came in at 4:22 a.m., and crews arrived on the scene within two minutes. Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 15 minutes.

Two adults and one child were inside the home when the fire started, but they managed to get out safely on their own. EMS evaluated them at the scene, and no one needed to be taken to the hospital.

The fire began on the first floor. The house sustained heavy smoke and fire damage, along with moderate water damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

While crews were on the scene, Wells Street was closed to traffic between W. State Blvd. and Jacobs Ave. It reopened shortly after 6:30 a.m.
