A group of unidentified individuals in North Carolina attacked a family and vandalized their home in a horrifying incident involving duct tape and heated butter knives.

Officers from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene around 2am on June 15 in Spout Springs, near Fayetteville.

According to reports, five or six male suspects arrived in a silver Dodge Challenger and entered through an open door in the garage, where the husband, wife, their daughter, and her friend were present. They then compelled the victims to move inside the house, as per WRAL.

The suspects used duct tape to restrain the victims before subjecting them to torture with kitchen utensils, as reported by Law & Crime.

“They took a knife and fork, like a butter knife, and heated it on the stove, then used it to harm the victims,” Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats told Law & Crime. “They were trying to coerce them into revealing where their money and guns were.”

Despite not taking any cash or firearms, the suspects stole two vehicles, according to the sheriff’s office.

The husband, wife, and daughter received treatment at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center for injuries that were not life-threatening.

A GoFundMe page was set up by a sister of the homeowner to assist the family with medical expenses and provide support in coping with this traumatic incident.

As of Wednesday, the fundraiser had raised over $16,000. The organizer wrote, “My sister and her family are suffering physically, emotionally, and mentally. Our extended family and close friends are devastated. Their home was vandalized, and their sense of peace and security will never be the same.”

It remains unclear whether any suspects have been apprehended. The Independent has reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment.
