A 32-year-old man was hospitalized after his father shot him in the leg during a late-night family altercation on Houston’s south side. According to the police, this incident is being categorized as a self-defense situation.

It was around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday when the incident took place at a residence on Arbor Street. According to the police, the father, a man in his 70s, was peacefully watching TV when his 32-year-old son, who had consumed alcohol, started behaving more aggressively.

The son allegedly issued threats, including stating, “I will subdue you.”

The situation escalated further when he broke a mirror and made an attempt to harm the family dog. In response, the son reacted by charging towards his father, prompting the father to fire a warning shot.

The son was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders, and it is anticipated that he will make a full recovery from his injuries.

The father was taken into custody for questioning, and he willingly cooperated with the police throughout the process.

According to the police, the son has a track record of being violent towards his father. This includes an incident where the son allegedly broke his father’s arm.
