On Wednesday, July 24, FBI agents arrived at Delia’s Tamales, leaving many fans of the business curious about the reason. MySA has been closely following Delia’s since a lawsuit emerged at the end of 2023. The suit alleges several violations, including wage theft, fraud, and discrimination against former employees.

This case is complex, especially if you’re hearing about it for the first time. To help, we’ve created a timeline of the Delia’s Tamales lawsuit, the allegations, and the subsequent FBI raid that brought the Texas restaurant chain back into the limelight.

Who owns Delia’s Tamales?

Delia Lubin founded the first Delia’s Tamales restaurant in McAllen in 1998. She had been selling her popular tamales independently for some time before then, according to the business’s website. The business eventually grew and expanded to include multiple locations, including one in San Antonio.
