Two college students from North Fulton turned their side hustle into a successful business. Like many others, they resorted to gig work as a means of earning a living.

According to consumer advisor Clark Howard from Channel 2, there’s no better time than now to explore opportunities to earn additional income.

Side hustles have always been a passion for Morgan Leemaster.

He stated that he was always on the lookout for odd jobs, particularly during his middle school and freshman year.

One of his ventures transformed into Mulligan Golf Balls, which specializes in selling pre-owned golf balls through its online platform.

Leemaster shared that he started collecting golf balls as a means to save up for college. However, his collection quickly grew as he saw the potential to give golf balls a second chance after they had been hit into the water or woods. “We’re giving them a second chance,” he said.

At the young age of sixteen, he purchased the company with the earnings he made from his landscaping side job.

Jack Emacio, co-owner of Mulligans and Leemaster, sells golf balls on various online platforms such as Amazon, eBay, Facebook, and Shopify.

Leemaster commented that there are many individuals who are working hard and employing various methods to earn a living.

As per a survey conducted by neighbor.com, it has been found that more than 30% of college students are engaged in side hustles, and almost 70% of recent graduates depend on gig work to fulfill their financial needs. This highlights the increasing trend of individuals taking up additional work opportunities to supplement their income.

According to Ted Rossman, the typical side hustler earns around $900 per month, which is a notable additional income.

According to the Bankrate.com senior industry analyst, the side hustle industry is expected to experience growth.

According to him, technology plays a vital role in making things more convenient and accessible. He stated that with the help of online platforms and mobile applications, various tasks have become easier to perform.

With the rise of apps like Venmo and PayPal, receiving payments has become more convenient. However, it is important to keep in mind that taxes still need to be paid.

According to Rossman, the previous threshold for receiving a tax form was quite steep, requiring 200 transactions and a minimum of $20,000 in earnings per year. However, the new threshold has been lowered significantly to just $600.

Maintaining accurate records of your income is crucial to ensure that you file your taxes correctly.

According to Leemaster, the key aspect of any side hustle is the willingness to dedicate time and effort.

“It can be a tough journey, there’s no doubt about it. The key is to maintain discipline and stay focused on your goals. However, the rewards are definitely worth the effort. It’s always satisfying to receive a substantial paycheck for all your hard work,” he expressed.
