Georgia Power line workers are on their way to the Texas coast to assist in restoring power to those impacted by Hurricane Beryl. As part of a mutual aid agreement, these skilled workers are providing their expertise to help those in need. The dedication and commitment of these workers is admirable and serves as a reminder of the importance of community support during times of crisis.

According to Georgia Power spokesperson Marie Bertot, the company has established agreements with other energy companies for assistance when needed. Bertot emphasized the importance of these partnerships in providing reliable service to customers.

The state of Texas is in dire need of assistance as it grapples with the aftermath of the severe winter storm. The calamitous weather has resulted in the tragic deaths of at least four individuals, and millions of people are currently left without electricity.

According to Bertot, the crews are responsible for fixing broken poles, downed lines, and clearing vegetation before they can begin their work.

On Monday night, their Union City facility dispatched a minimum of 20 trucks. It’s not just Georgia Power that’s taking action. The American Red Cross of Georgia also sent out a team of 13 individuals.

According to Adelaide Kirk, the regional disaster officer, there are volunteers present in the area who are providing assistance in various ways. Some are actively involved in sheltering while others are engaged in providing food to the affected individuals.

According to Bertot, Georgia customers can rest assured that they are well-prepared to handle the aftermath of the storm that has nothing to do with Beryl in the metro Atlanta area. Additionally, they are also equipped to offer assistance to Texans affected by the storm.

Bertot stated that crews are working tirelessly 24/7 to complete the assigned tasks.

Line workers believe that despite the risks and danger involved in their job, the opportunity to help their community makes it all worthwhile.

Bertot shared that the feeling of reward is immense for the veterans when they return home to see everything lit up and people expressing their gratitude.
