Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Emily A. Fisher as the judge of Galveston County’s 306th Judicial District Court, with her term set to begin on January 4, 2025, and continue through the end of 2026, unless a successor is appointed earlier.

Fisher, a board-certified family law expert, brings extensive legal experience to the position, having served as a family associate judge and as a member of professional organizations such as the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor University.

In addition to her legal career, Fisher is deeply involved in community service. She is a past president of the Galveston County Bar Association, a former member of the Galveston County Mediation Association, and co-chair of the American History Essay Contest Committee.

She has also supported heritage initiatives through her role as treasurer for the Daughters of the American Revolution of Galveston. Fisher continues her community engagement as a board and Finance Committee member of the Pregnancy Help Center Galveston, where she advocates for the welfare of expectant mothers.

Governor Abbott’s announcement highlighted Fisher’s strong record of community involvement and legal expertise, emphasizing his commitment to appointing highly qualified professionals to the judiciary. Fisher’s appointment ensures experienced leadership in family law cases for the district.
