According to Quapaw Marshal Charles Addington, the collection of bones was finished at around 3 p.m. The remains will be sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office for identification and to determine the cause of death.
According to the speaker, they are currently in the process of collecting dental records for some of the missing individuals.
Angela Berg, a forensic anthropologist, is currently gathering evidence directly at the scene.
In the extreme corner of the state, as well as in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri, there are approximately 20 cases of missing persons. The majority of these cases are concentrated within a 50-mile radius of Picher. Additionally, there are three cases in Colcord, Eucha, and Twin Oaks, which are within a 75-mile distance from Picher.
Officers from the Quapaw Marshal’s Service and the State Medical Examiner’s Office are currently at the scene in a secluded area close to Cardin.
