Indianapolis saw a flurry of police activity this week with more than 40 arrests resulting from two separate operations. Operation Domestic Disruption led to the apprehension of 20 individuals, while Operation Compliance resulted in 22 arrests. A notable concentration of arrests occurred at a residence on Tabor Street in the near southside neighborhood, where 14 people were taken into custody for violating probation terms post-conviction.

IMPD Deputy Chief Kendale Adams emphasized the targeted nature of these operations, stating, “We’re not going out and stopping everybody. We’re trying to be laser-focused.” Operation Compliance specifically targeted individuals with active warrants, focusing on those with previous gun charges whom police believe were violating terms monitored by Community Corrections.

The operations also included efforts to support victims. Indy Champions provided services to victims of domestic violence following the arrests of nearly two dozen offenders wanted for various domestic violence warrants. Danyette Smith of Indy Champions highlighted the support available to victims, stating, “We want victims and survivors to know that there are agencies out here that can support and walk that journey with you.”

During these raids, police seized over a dozen illegally possessed firearms and various narcotics, aiming to enhance community safety by removing these items from circulation. IMPD Deputy Chief Adams reiterated the ongoing nature of these operations, emphasizing their role in targeting individuals with a high potential involvement in gun crimes: “The goal is to focus on individuals who have a high likelihood of being a victim or suspect as it relates to gun crimes.”

Police underscored that these operations are not isolated events, indicating plans for similar future raids to maintain public safety.
