On Christmas Eve, a man was apprehended on felony charges for making threats to detonate a bomb at Lakewood Church.

According to reports, the church was hosting an event that had over 5,000 attendees when the threat was issued.

The authorities swiftly identified the suspect by linking him to a previous call made earlier on Tuesday. The nature of the initial call remains unknown.

Aaron Suppes, a 33-year-old man, was later identified as the suspect. According to court documents, he has been homeless for at least the past year.

The officers wasted no time and swiftly arrived at the scene. They immediately briefed the church’s security team on the situation at hand. Without delay, they swiftly located and apprehended Suppes.

During the investigation, the authorities also uncovered duffel bags that Suppes had brought to the church. To ensure everyone’s safety, a bomb squad and Houston Fire Department hazmat crew carefully examined the bags for any potential explosive devices. Fortunately, no threatening devices were found, providing a sense of relief to the authorities and the community.

Suppes faces charges for committing a felony by making a terroristic threat. Currently, he is being held on a $25,000 bond.

Less than a year ago, Lakewood Church experienced a shooting incident that left two people injured. And now, there is yet another threat looming over the church.
