Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) is well aware of the peculiar circumstances faced by Republican politicians in the current political climate, especially as Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate.
Recently, the GOP’s endeavor to reclaim the White House has suffered a setback. This is because Tim Walz, the Minnesota Governor who is now the presumptive Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, has been referring to Republicans as “weird” due to their attempts to ban books and meddle in people’s confidential medical decisions.
The tag has hit Vance particularly hard, mainly due to the resurfacing of his controversial attacks on “childless cat ladies” and a discredited internet joke from his book “Hillbilly Elegy,” where he wrote about having sex with a couch.
During Vance’s visit to the Eau Claire, Wisconsin airport, a reporter approached him and inquired about his perspective on the “weird argument.” It was a common query, given Vance’s background and expertise in the matter.
The reporter asked for the Republican’s opinion on the Democrats’ frequent use of the word “weird.” They specifically mentioned how the word is directed towards both the Republican and former President Trump.
In a gruff tone that could rival the sternest of old-timers, 40-year-old Vance responded with his best “you kids get off my lawn” impression.
According to him, the notion of Trump’s campaign being ‘weird’ was propagated by a group of social media interns who may have been bullied in their school days. He believes that these 24-year-olds decided to project their own experiences onto the entire Trump campaign, leading to the widespread use of such a label.
After reciting the GOP’s stance on what he perceives as the unconventional aspects of the Democratic ticket, the senator concluded by referring to himself as an average person.

However, a lot of individuals on X, previously known as Twitter, found Vance’s justification for his ordinary lifestyle to be somewhat unusual.
