A juvenile has been arrested for allegedly making online school shooting threats against southwest Valley campuses, authorities said Wednesday.

The threats began spreading on social media last Thursday, according to the Tolleson Police Department.

The messages included a gun and a list of schools in the area.

School shooting threats found to be a hoax

Police and administrators found that the threats were not genuine and advised kids not to miss school as a result.

A police inquiry resulted in the arrest of a youngster who allegedly confessed to the fake.

The suspect, who lacked the tools to carry out the school shooting threats, was put into a juvenile detention facility.

Police did not identify the schools that were the focus of the online threats.

To reduce potential disruptions, police are asking the public not to share any school threats they observe on social media.

In an case, a 13-year-old student was charged with falsely reporting on Monday that guns were on the grounds of Bales Elementary School in Buckeye, resulting in a lockdown.
