On Tuesday, a fire marshal in Kansas expressed optimism that a wood pallet fire at a recycling center in Park City could be contained by fire crews aided by water-dropping helicopters. The fire has been burning for several days.

As of now, there have been no reports of any injuries or harm caused to any other buildings from the fire that broke out on Sunday night at Evergreen Recycle in the suburbs of Wichita. The firefighters have been putting all their efforts into controlling the fire from spreading to the neighboring business.

An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The firefighters’ job has been made more challenging due to the high temperatures in the 90s and strong, straight-line winds.

On Tuesday, Sedgwick County Fire Marshal Brad Crisp expressed his hope to get the situation under control by the end of the day. He emphasized concern regarding the wind conditions, not only for today but also for tomorrow.

According to Crisp, the wildfire is being combated by Air National Guard helicopters that are dropping 600 gallons (2,271 litres) of water on the blaze every 10 minutes. The Sedgwick County officials declared a local disaster on Monday, which prompted the guard to step in.
