Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s office has recently launched a new program that aims to teach individuals how to recognize the signs of human trafficking, with a particular emphasis on identifying teen survivors.

First responders, such as nurses and EMTs, can now access a video-based learning series that features real-life scenarios to aid in identifying potential human trafficking. The training videos emphasize the importance of paying attention to both verbal and physical clues. A discussion guide is also included to encourage conversation and promote best practices for identifying trafficking of teens.

Yost expressed his hope that individuals who have survived trafficking would receive the necessary support and care when they interact with healthcare providers.

Yost will be delivering the opening remarks at the fifth annual Human Trafficking Summit, which is scheduled to be held on August 7 in Columbus. This event is an initiative to combat human trafficking and aims to carry forward the work in this direction.
