Las Vegas TikToker apprehended after ICE protest

A Las Vegas content creator known as ItsMzToonz was arrested following Wednesday night’s protest downtown.

Karlin Martinez was live-streaming on TikTok throughout the event, which occurred about midnight. Her arrest record mentioned an “unlawful assembly” accusation, which in Nevada refers to when two or more persons join with the purpose to perform an unlawful act and then disband.

Stephen Stubbs, her attorney, claims that she received no advance notice to leave.

“That group of officers was walking away from the staging area, so they’ve clearly been dismissed. They have all their protective gear in bags. The protest was literally in the bag. It was over,” Stubbs said.

In the TikTok video, a Las Vegas Metro Police officer can be heard saying, “Enjoying yourself?” followed by “Nothing better to do?” to Martinez and others.

“The sergeant was disrespectful to them and pretty aggressive in what he said,” Stubbs said.

Another man, near Martinez, can be heard responding to officers, “Honor your oath,” while Martinez can be heard replying, “No!”

Her livestream footage may shortly reveal Martinez’s arrest.

“I’m just watching, I’m watching, I didn’t do nothing, I swear I’m not resisting,” Martinez said

“I try not to watch it anymore. It’s kind of a trigger.

Furthermore, the TikToker, who was born in California, was irritated that her arrest paperwork labeled her as “citizenship unknown” in the system, although officials had her ID.

“That’s going to open the door for ICE, and that’s one of the most messed-up parts of this entire thing,” Stubbs said.

Martinez told 8 News Now she believes she has been profiled.

“I feel like I was arrested because of the way I look. I’m brown,” Martinez said. “I’m a businesswoman. Don’t judge someone by the way they look, ever.”

Martinez now hopes that the officers involved will be held accountable.

According to 8 News Now, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.

Martinez’s arraignment is planned in July. She also participated in another protest downtown over the weekend, where she helped hand out water.
