Levi James Maciejewski, the 13-year-old son of Shippensburg University head football coach Mark Maciejewski, fell victim to a horrifying online crime that has deeply affected his family and community. On Friday, January 3, the family disclosed that Levi’s untimely demise was the result of sextortion, a crime that law enforcement authorities have categorized as a homicide.

In a heartfelt statement released on Friday, January 3rd, Mark Maciejewski, the head football coach at Shippensburg University, along with his wife Tricia and their son Brady, expressed their profound sorrow. They shared the tragic news that Levi’s life was tragically taken by an online predator. This individual manipulated, intimidated, and extorted Levi, causing irreparable harm. Law enforcement authorities are diligently working to apprehend and hold the perpetrator accountable for their heinous actions.

Levi, a vibrant, loving, and spirited young boy, brought joy and light to the lives of those around him. His family shares their heartbreak in the hope of raising awareness about the dangers of sextortion, aiming to spare others from enduring the same pain.

The family expressed their grief over the incident, stating that while some may view it as a mere story, it is a devastating loss and a deeply personal experience for them. They made a heartfelt plea for privacy during this difficult time. Additionally, the family stressed the significance of educating children about the potential risks associated with online interactions.

Levi was discovered on Tuesday, Aug. 20, around 2:08 p.m. in the 300 block of Britton Road in Shippensburg, as reported by Pennsylvania State Police and previously covered by Daily Voice. PSP Trooper H PIO Megan Frazer has confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.

The Shippensburg School District is deeply saddened by the loss of Levi, a middle school student. In light of this tragedy, the district has made counselors available to support students who have been affected by this devastating event.

The family has set up an email account, [email protected], for the community to share stories and photos of Levi. They have mentioned that no fundraising initiatives have been organized at the moment, but they will keep the community updated if any support is required.

“Please hug your children tight, tell them you love them, and pray over our dear friends,” the family wrote.

If you have been affected by sextortion, it is important to seek help. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) provides support and assistance in such cases. You can visit their website at missingkids.org or call 1-800-THE-LOST to make a report.

The family concluded that Levi should be remembered and honored for the amazing person he was. They expressed their hope that by sharing their story, it will inspire others to take action and protect others from this increasing threat.
