Two major drug task force operations on I-70 resulted in the seizure of nearly 350 pounds of drugs and more than $935,000 in cash.
Agents from the Major Drug Interdiction Task Force and Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers carried out a routine stop on a commercial vehicle on I-70 in Madison County on August 3.
A whopping 300 pounds of methamphetamine, 17.6 pounds of cocaine, and 30 pounds of marijuana were confiscated by authorities.
The drugs were worth a staggering $14.6 million in street value.
On August 6th, law enforcement officials pulled over a commercial vehicle on I-70 in Clark County, resulting in the confiscation of over $935,000.
According to a spokesperson for Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, the seizures of methamphetamine and cash are thought to be among the largest in state history.
In contrast, the amount of meth seized and currency confiscated in the entirety of 2023 was significantly lower compared to the recent bust. Only 249 pounds of meth and almost $5.5 million in currency were seized throughout the year.
According to Yost, drug traffickers who want to inflict harm on central Ohio should be aware that they are under surveillance by the task force and its partners. Yost commended the task force officers for their efforts to remove these hazardous drugs and illegal profits from the highways.
