Authorities in Alabama were alerted on January 19th about an incident involving an adult male and a minor.
According to a public posting, the family of the 12-year-old victim apprehended a 38-year-old man named Mario Francisco Martin (later confirmed to be Luis Lopez-Martinez) from Guatemala. They caught him engaging in inappropriate behavior with the minor.
During the interview, Lopez-Martinez openly admitted to his actions, stating, “It is what it is.”
Lopez-Martinez has been assigned a bond of $250,000, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued an immigration detainer for him.
Lopez-Martinez is still in custody as of January 24th.
