According to a statement from the Fishers Police Department on their Facebook post, an Indianapolis man was taken into custody on Sunday for committing multiple crimes. The man in question allegedly robbed a Taco Bell, stole a vehicle, attempted to evade the police, and even fired his weapon.

In the early hours of Sunday, at around 1:30 a.m., Fishers Police Department received a distress call regarding a robbery and carjacking incident at a Taco Bell situated on Allisonville Road. According to the preliminary information shared by Fishers dispatch, a group of males forcefully entered the drive-through window and brandished their firearms, demanding money. One of the suspects fled the scene in a Dodge Challenger that belonged to one of the victims. Upon receiving the call, Fishers officers rushed to the Taco Bell, located the employees, and initiated an investigation into the matter.

As soon as the officers spotted the stolen Dodge Challenger on Allisonville Road, they took action and pulled it over. However, the driver and the only person in the car, Fredrick Nance, 24, from Indianapolis, immediately fled on foot. To catch the suspect, several officers, along with a K-9 team, chased him down south on Allisonville Road into Marion County. The K-9 was eventually released by its handler to assist in the apprehension.

While chasing Nance on foot, officers heard a gunshot ring out. The K-9 was leading the way when the shot was fired, but thankfully, neither the canine nor any officers were harmed. With the help of the K-9, officers caught Nance and took him into custody. Before being transported to Hamilton County Jail, Nance underwent a medical evaluation.

Upon apprehending Nance, law enforcement found several pieces of evidence that belonged to the victims, including a Glock handgun with a machine gun conversion device attached to it, which was discovered near the location where Nance was taken into custody. All the victims were able to positively identify Nance as the perpetrator of the crime.

In the interview with the officers, Nance admitted to committing robbery, auto theft, and firing a shot. As a result, Nance was taken into custody and initially charged with a range of serious offenses, including robbery, intimidation, pointing a firearm at another individual, criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement, resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness using a deadly weapon, kidnapping while armed with a deadly weapon, and possession of a machine gun.
