Police are searching for a man who allegedly beat and attempted to steal the purse of a woman who refused to pay him money at a subway station near Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
The 22-year-old victim was standing on the Manhattan-bound 4 platform at the Franklin Avenue/Botanic Garden station in Crown Heights at 1:10 a.m. Monday when the man approached her and demanded cash.
When she refused, he punched her in the head several times, causing her to fall to the ground, police said.
He then attempted to steal her pocketbook but was unsuccessful and escaped on foot, according to police.
The victim sustained many injuries and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in stable condition.
