An Alamo man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing two people at a McAllen Motel 6.

Carlos Antonio Cardenas Jr., 29, has pled guilty to several counts of capital murder and criminal attempted murder, according to court records.

Cardenas has been in custody since March 18, 2023, when a fatal stabbing occurred at the Motel 6 on the 700 block of Expressway 83.

According to prior reports, police from the McAllen Police Department responded to a report of a bleeding man at the hotel’s front desk.

Officers on the scene discovered two male stabbing victims on the hotel premises, identified as Keith Henry Cole, 45, of Virginia, and Luis Eduardo Garza, 42. Both males died on the site.

Officers discovered Cardenas at the scene, holding a knife near one of the victims.

The indictment named Ernest Galvan as the third person whom Cardenas “failed” to murder. He was found on a nearby property.

McAllen police previously reported the seizure of drug paraphernalia at the location.

According to court documents, Cardenas will receive 817 days of prison credit as part of his plea agreement.
