Bodycam footage reveals police arresting a man in Oklahoma who allegedly shot at two neighbors, injuring one of them. Authorities say his motive for the crime was anger over work being done on a nearby piece of land.

In the video, Michael Stevens, 41, is seen surrendering by kneeling on the side of a dirt road with his hands behind his back.

According to the arrest warrant application obtained by Law&Crime, officers responded to a shots-fired call on Alexi Lane in Oklahoma City at 2:58 p.m. on Sept. 13.

“Michael appeared to be intoxicated and made several voluntary statements to the officers,” police said in the documents. “He told officers that he saw people clearing land west of his property. While he wasn’t sure if the land was sold, he was upset that it was being cleared, and when he heard the chainsaw, he snapped.”

Authorities say the victims were Stevens’ neighbors, and the owners of the land had hired the pair to clear brush and trees from five acres of newly purchased land just north of Stevens’ property.

Stevens allegedly confronted the men, with one of them, according to the affidavit, “giving him an attitude.” Stevens reportedly responded by shooting one of the men and attempting to shoot the other. Both victims fled the scene.

Further investigation revealed Stevens had been armed with an AR-15 style rifle.

“Michael shot [the uninjured victim’s] truck more than twenty times, hitting the front windshield and side windows,” police wrote. “[The injured victim] crashed his pickup truck into a tree and realized he had been shot twice in the back.”

Stevens has pleaded not guilty to two counts of shooting with intent to kill and three counts of felon in possession of a firearm, stemming from a 2016 DUI conviction.

A hearing in the shooting case is scheduled for Dec. 13.
