According to forecasters, this week’s severe weather may bring destructive winds, hail, flooding, and possibly even tornadoes.

What To Know

AccuWeather predicts heavy thunderstorms in Texas on Tuesday. According to the report, floods could occur in central and southern districts later this week.

According to the forecast, West Texas and New Mexico were at high risk of hail, destructive winds, and flash flooding.

“Heavy downpours may lead to flash flooding in parts of the southern Plains, particularly in areas like western Texas that already received substantial rainfall over the weekend,” read an advisory. “Urban and rural transportation corridors may be impacted.”

By Wednesday, AccuWeather predicted that severe weather would sweep into the Midwest. Thunderstorms are expected from Nebraska to northwest Illinois on Wednesday afternoon and evening. According to the publication, these storms may bring hail, flash flooding, and severe wind gusts, which could disrupt local logistics and outdoor activities.

What Happens Next

A slow-moving storm system, combined with a powerful surge of subtropical moisture, will increase the flood risk across Texas from Wednesday to Friday, according to AccuWeather.

AccuWeather predicts this trend will support multiple rounds of thunderstorms, potentially causing travel delays. Some of the more powerful storms may potentially bring destructive winds, it said.
