According to the judge, Payton Gendron might be required to attend court in the future, if there are any witness testimonies.

An update regarding the federal trial of the Tops mass shooter was provided on Wednesday in Buffalo, NY.

Payton Gendron, the shooter, wrote a letter on November 11, requesting to waive his presence during upcoming court appearances. This letter, obtained by 2 On Your Side, bears his signature.

It had been only four days prior to his scheduled court appearance.

According to the letter, the individual has given permission to their lawyers to represent them in court and discuss their presence at both current and future court proceedings.

The judge had previously stated that Gendron might have to make a court appearance in the future, should witness testimony be necessary.
