A Massachusetts woman hit the jackpot thanks to the color of a State Lottery scratch ticket.
The Massachusetts State Lottery announced that Maria Manchester from Fall River is the lucky winner of a $1 million prize in the “Emerald Mine 50X” $5 instant ticket game. The game was released for sale on Tuesday, January 7th.
Manchester opted for the cash prize and was awarded a lump sum of $650,000 (pre-tax). She explained that she picked this particular ticket because of its green color and because it was from a newer game.
The lucky ticket was bought at AMS Food Mart on 2307 South Main St. in Fall River. As a result of selling this winning ticket, the store will be awarded a $10,000 bonus.
There is still one remaining $1 million prize in Emerald Mine 50X.
