A man from Bradford County has been arraigned on charges of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing by her mother last week.

Surveillance cameras caught 26-year-old Hunter Michael McCaslin from Sugar Run walking through the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express on state Route 315 on January 2nd, as recorded in court documents.

According to court records, McCaslin had informed the troopers earlier in the day that he was unaware of the girl’s whereabouts. The mother had reported her missing from a residence in Sullivan County.

In November, the mother had already reported a concerning relationship between her daughter and the older McCaslin.

Troopers spoke with McCaslin when the mother reported her daughter missing from a residence in Sullivan County on Jan. 2. McCaslin claimed that he did not know the whereabouts of the teen.

According to court records, troopers were able to locate the girl in the Plains Township area by employing investigative techniques. They found McCaslin’s vehicle near the Holiday Inn Express later that day on January 2nd.

According to court records, it was revealed that McCaslin had booked a room at the hotel on January 2nd. Surveillance cameras captured their departure from the lobby shortly after 9 p.m. on January 3rd.

McCaslin faced a series of charges, including interference with custody of a child, kidnapping, and corruption of minors. He was arraigned on Sunday by District Judge Daniel O’Donnell of Butler Township. As of Monday, he was still in custody at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility due to his inability to post $25,000 bail.
