Please do not listen to me for legal advice or travel with illegal substances. However, if you have a ton of cocaine hidden in your SUV, do not violate traffic regulations. A Mississippi guy attracted attention with 44 pounds of cocaine hidden in his car and was hauled over.
Mississippi man caught with 44 lbs of cocaine hidden in SUV
A police officer driving down Highway 49 near Highway 80 in Pearl, Mississippi, noticed an SUV driving erratically at 1:00 a.m.
The driver of the white Chevrolet Tahoe swerved into the officer’s lane, nearly colliding with his police car. This is when the police officer started the traffic stop. To avoid making matters worse, the Chevy driver, identified as John Jarmaine Norman, pulled over.
According to WAPT, the police officer was speaking with Norman and appeared anxious. The officer began to suspect that he was engaged in illicit conduct.
The officer then obtained verbal authorization to search the SUV. Norman did not need to provide approval because there was no evident indication of prohibited materials. After examining the Tahoe, the officer discovered a man-made aftermarket compartment containing almost 44 pounds of cocaine.
As a result, Norman was arrested and charged with trafficking in prohibited substances. According to a quick search, this amount of cocaine may be worth more than $1 million.
It is unknown whether Norman was driving under the influence when he was pulled over. However, in my humble opinion, pulling over rather than initiating a police chase was the correct decision to avoid incurring additional fines.
