Lottery officials have revealed that a woman from Iowa has won a significant prize on a crossword-themed scratch-off ticket. The woman was surprised to learn that her prize was even bigger than she had originally thought.

According to a news release by the Iowa Lottery on August 1st, Diana Sindelar from Marion, who is 71 years old, called her daughter to celebrate after scratching her “$30,000 Crossword” ticket.

Lottery officials reported that Sindelar excitedly informed her daughter over the phone, “I won $3,000!”

Sindelar was unaware of her big win until her daughter arrived and checked the ticket, revealing that she had won the top prize of the game.

Lottery officials were informed by Sindelar that it was his partner who discovered the astonishing amount of $30,000. According to him, it was a complete shock to everyone involved.

According to officials, the lucky retiree has expressed her intention to utilize the prize money to relieve herself of financial burdens such as paying off her bills. She also plans to use the winnings to offset the increasing costs of her medications.

Sindelar expressed his gratitude towards the fact that he doesn’t have to struggle to stretch out his Social Security check anymore. He stated, “It’s really nice.”

Sindelar purchased her ticket from Casey’s in Marion.

Located just 7 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids, Marion makes for a convenient and accessible destination.

While some individuals can engage in gambling or games of chance without negative consequences, for others, it can become an addictive behavior that has the potential to destroy both their own lives and their families.

In case you or someone you care about is displaying symptoms of gambling addiction, there’s always help available. You can reach out to the national gambling helpline at 1-800-522-4700 or explore the National Council on Problem Gambling website for assistance.
