On Thursday, a child was rescued after falling 15 feet onto rocks in Ohio. Fortunately, the young child was saved from the accident.

Ohio had to close a portion of a state route in Adams County on Wednesday due to a significant rockfall. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) officials said that the rockfall occurred in the early hours of the morning, and fortunately, no one was injured. However, the incident caused a significant amount of rocks and debris to fall onto the roadway, making it unsafe for travel. ODOT crews were immediately dispatched to the site to clear the roadway and make it safe for travel.

According to reports on social media, Elyria’s fire and police departments were called to Cascade Park at 3 p.m. after receiving information that a child had fallen.

Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered a child who had fallen 15 feet and was trapped in a precarious position between massive rocks and the Black River, adjacent to the West Falls beneath the Lake Avenue Bridge.

According to a post on the fire department’s Facebook page, the crew focused on stabilizing the child’s injuries before placing her in a Stokes Basket for extraction. The extrication process was quite lengthy and the injuries were severe, prompting the team to call in Metro Lifeflight, which landed in Cascade Park.

The child was swiftly transported to the hospital by medics.

Assistance in the rescue operation was provided by the Lorain Metro Parks Rangers and Lifecare as well.
