Orange County experiences initial tremor measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale

The United States Geological Survey reported that Orange County was hit by a preliminary 3.6 magnitude earthquake on Thursday afternoon.

At almost 5 p.m., an earthquake hit with a depth of almost 7.5 miles. Its epicenter was approximately 1 mile southeast of Costa Mesa and just under 1.5 miles northeast of Newport Beach. According to USGS reports, another quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 was felt only about five minutes later.

Residents in Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, and Avalon in Catalina Island reported experiencing the tremors, according to KTLA viewers.

According to the United States Geological Survey, a preliminary earthquake measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale occurred on Wednesday around 1:46 p.m. The earthquake was reported to have taken place approximately 2 miles east of Newport Beach, with a depth of around 7.7 miles.

As of now, there are no reports of any damages caused by the earthquake that occurred on Thursday.
