A terrifying scene unfolded in a North Philadelphia apartment on Sunday morning, leaving a 77-year-old lady injured and her son in arrest.

Officers responded to reports of a man armed with a knife in the 1200 block of Fairmount Avenue at 9:30 a.m.

Police found that the elderly mother’s 54-year-old son, who refused to leave the apartment, stabbed her in the shoulder.

We declared a barricade situation and apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter. A local hospital received him with minor injuries.

A local hospital also treated the woman, and reports indicate that her condition is stable.

Police have also recovered the knife from the attack.

Police have not released any information about a probable motive or charges against the individual. An investigation is ongoing.
