According to police, an officer was signaled and requested to perform a welfare check, leading to the discovery of the teenagers.

Police have reported that two teenagers were discovered deceased in the garage of a residence in Chandler, Arizona, early on Tuesday morning.

In the early hours of Tuesday, people approached an officer near N. Arizona Avenue and E. Ray Road, seeking a welfare check for Romeo Elias Alvarez, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, according to Chandler police.

Alvarez, who recently graduated from Dobson High School in May, had the honor of delivering a speech at his commencement ceremony.

The identity of the 17-year-old has not been revealed by officials.

The detectives are currently awaiting the official cause of death as determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Alvarez’s family is in need of financial assistance to cover the funeral expenses, and a GoFundMe page has been set up for this purpose. The page has already received an overwhelming response, with over $11,000 raised. If you wish to contribute, you can find the donation link here.
