ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Thursday, 39-year-old Takesha Rogers of Rochester was arrested for allegedly entering a restricted area at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. She faces charges of unlawfully entering an airport area and violating security protocols, which could result in a maximum sentence of one year in prison.

Rogers appeared in court for an initial hearing and remains in custody.

On November 27, 2024, around 11:30 p.m., Rogers entered a secure area of the Rochester Airport. A Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy saw her running toward a moving plane. She was apprehended without incident and, following a Mental Hygiene Arrest, was taken to Rochester General Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Rogers had previously pleaded guilty to similar charges on May 5, 2022. She admitted to climbing over a fence and entering the Aircraft Operations Area at the Rochester Airport on four occasions. Rogers was sentenced to time served and one year of supervised release.

In April 2023, Rogers attempted to bypass security at the airport again, leading to the revocation of her supervised release. She was sentenced to one year in prison in Texas in October 2023 and released in July 2024.

News10NBC’s Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean spoke with Rogers’ mother in July after Rogers disappeared during a bus trip from a Texas prison to Rochester. Police found Rogers in Sulphur Springs, where she was having a mental breakdown and was taken to a state hospital near Dallas for treatment.
